Course overview and purpose:
The Reggio Emilia approach is an internationally recognised educational philosophy that places children at the centre of the learning process, valuing their curiosity, creativity, and ability to actively construct knowledge. Originally developed in early childhood education, many of its principles can be adapted and applied across different educational contexts and age groups.
This course is designed for teachers who would like to explore the key principles of the Reggio Emilia approach and discover practical ways of incorporating them into their own teaching practice.
The course focuses on understanding the pedagogical values, including child-centred learning, the learning environment as the “third teacher”, project-based learning, documentation, creativity, and collaboration. Participants will explore how these principles can inspire more engaging, inclusive, and participatory learning experiences.
The course offers an inspiring and practical introduction to the Reggio Emilia approach, encouraging participants to discover new perspectives on teaching and learning. Through hands-on activities, discussions, and classroom examples, educators will be invited to reflect on their own practice and explore creative, learner-centred strategies that can enrich their educational experience and inspire positive change in the classroom.
