Classroom management and soft skills

It takes more than expertise in one academic field to manage classroom behaviour and student progress. Knowing your students has become more important than knowing your subject; today’s teachers must possess the right soft skills to be effective in the classroom. Soft skills are also paramount when working with parents, administration and other teachers.

Some courses focus on building effective relationships, problem solving skills, critical thinking and cross-cultural communication in order to help teachers engage students and assertively manage challenging classrooms. Other courses promote a healthy work-life balance, satisfaction and self-awareness. Still other courses provide relevant skills to teach students with special needs, or to promote a school culture that values diversity in the classroom and to prevent and deal with bullying and cyberbullying.
